This book attempts to bring Sharat Chandra’s well known and equally interesting stories to the readers. There is also an endeavour to incorporate some of his comedies so that the reader is able to know the other facet of Sharat Chandra’s geniuses.
About Author:
Sharat Chandra is one of the greatest and most widely read Bengali writers in Indian Literature. It would not be an exaggeration to say that he is a pioneer of women’s empowerment in India. Most of his novels and stories have women as the protagonist.Devdas is the best example in which Sharat Chandra showed an immense maturity and strengths of women. His stories were mostly related to the rural areas and struggles that a villager has to undergo. Simplicity is one of the striking features of his stories. He wrote stories in a very simple manner, simple format, which found immense popularity amongst his readers. He crafted his stories on human relationships in such a way that there were no heroes or villains. A not so well known fact about Sharat Chandra is that he was equally adept in writing comedies.
